How Distributor Mode Works
Distributor Mode connects product import, product management, pricing, WebShop display, and order handling. The goal is to let customers see one clear product while providers keep control over which distributor is used.
Basic flow
- A provider imports or creates products with distributor information.
- Products that represent the same item can be grouped into one product.
- The grouped product keeps distributor-specific details, such as SKU, stock, cost price, and retail price.
- The WebShop displays the product as one listing.
- When a customer places an order, the system selects a distributor based on available pricing and stock information.
- The provider can review the order item and change the distributor when another available option is more suitable.
Distributor information
A distributor product can include:
- Distributor: the distributor connected to the product option.
- Distributor SKU: the SKU used by the distributor.
- Stock quantity: the available stock for the distributor option.
- Stock status: a status that describes availability.
- Cost price: the provider's cost from that distributor.
- Retail price: the selling price connected to that distributor option.
WebShop behavior
Customers do not need to choose a distributor. They see the product as a normal product listing and can add it to the cart as usual.
Behind the scenes, Distributor Mode helps the provider work with several distributor options without showing duplicate products to the customer.
Provider behavior
Providers can use Distributor Mode to compare distributor options during order handling. This is useful when price, stock, availability, or supplier preference changes after the customer has placed the order.
